If you have a question or concern, do not hesitate to contact the main office.
Some questions that parents/guardians frequently ask the main office and administration appear below with their answers.
The school day begins with the first bell at 8:45 a.m., indicating it is time to come inside the school. The bell rings at the beginning and end of each recess and lunch.
The full day's schedule can be seen on our bell times page.
The buses arrive at our school between 8:15 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. and leave between 3:00 p.m. and 3:10 p.m. each day. You can visit transportation and school bus status for more information on busing.
Parking at the school can be limiting, especially during bus times. If you are coming into the school during school hours, you can park in front of the main office or by the side of the building. There should be no vehicles parked where buses come in or turn during bus times.
All doors to the building are locked during school hours. Students dropped off before 8:45 a.m. can enter through the main entrance. If your child is going to be arriving late, they will need to contact the office by pressing the button on the wall by the main entrance to gain entry.
Listen to your local radio station and visit the Tri-Board Bus Lines website or RCJTC website in the morning for bus delays or cancellations. Remember that if a bus is cancelled in the morning, it will not run in the afternoon. Visit the school bus status page for more information on busing.
The student's agenda book is a great communication tool for parents/guardians to write notes or requests to classroom teachers such as changes in schedules, homework challenges and other important information. Parents can also call the school office. A message is taken if the phone call is made during class time.
If your child is sick, please do not send him/her to school. Children who are too sick to go outside for recess or participate in physical education should be kept at home until they are able to participate fully in the school day. Please call the school office before 9:00 a.m. to inform us that your child will be absent. The school's answering machine is on 24/7 so you can leave a message at your convenience. You can visit our If Your Child is Sick page for more information.
To view Whitney Public School's zone boundaries, visit the RCJTC website. There are maps showing the zone boundaries and roads for all students including French Immersion students.
Who to contact, school zone, and board forms and procedures also contain pertinent information for parents/guardians.
