Academics

One of our goals at Whitney Public School is to instill a love of life-long learning. Our academic program provides a variety of educational opportunities for students to demonstrate learning to the best of their abilities.

• Agenda books, an important communication tool for your child's academic progress;
• Combined grades classrooms;
• Our Early Learning program beginning in September 2014;

• Ontario Ministry of Education requirements:

• The Ontario Elementary School Curriculum for each grade level;
• Education Quality Accountability Office (EQAO) assessments and
• Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) requirements as our Grade 7 and 8 students begin to prepare for their high school education;
• Ontario Student Records (OSR) used to document students' progress; and

• Additional resources to enhance your child's learning such as our:

  • English as a Second Language (ESL) program for children requiring additional English language supports;
  • French Immersion program for Grade 5 and up students;
  • Library with books and reference materials to enhance students' studies; and
  • Web resources and homework help.

We believe that parents/guardians, students, teachers, administration and the community working collectively create the richest academic environments.
